Celta Vigo, in 14th place, are assured of survival, while ninth placed Valencia can’t finish any higher. Encouraging recent performances have pushed Celta Vigo up in the standings and they could finish as high as 12th. A loss here might as well see them dip to 17th as they navigate a congested mid-table. Claudio Giraldez’s charges come into this game on the back of four wins in their last six matches. They conceded late against Granada in a 2-1 win last time out and will hereby be seeking a third straight win to finish the season on a high. The one area of concern for the home team is that they have no clean sheet in the last seven matches. They also failed to score twice in those seven matches. However, recent home matches have posted good results, Celta Vigo arriving for this game undefeated in five. In those five home matches, they managed four wins.

Valencia have failed to beat Celta Vigo in their last two meetings. This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season. Ruben Baraja’s side can’t wait for the season to end, coming here without a win in six matches, five being defeats. This run is largely to blame for failing to make it to the European slots. It is hard to find a reason to motivate Valencia to want three points here. Their away form has been poor all season, the team winning just five times on the road in 18 matches. In their last two away matches, Valencia suffered defeats to Real Sociedad and Barcelona.
