Nottingham Forest lost at the weekend to continue their inconsistent run of form. They are fifth in the Championship and face a tricky away game at tenth placed Cardiff City. Forest are six points behind the second and final automatic promotion place. They are in the play-off positions but it's a tight league and Cardiff in tenth are only six points behind them. Forest had a big home win over second placed Leeds earlier this month but have been unable to build on that victory. Three league games since then have produced just two points and two of those matches were played at home. Their away form is the third best in the Championship with seven wins this season. However, only one of their last four has produced a victory with a loss to Birmingham and draw at league leaders West Bromwich Albion in their last two on the road. Seven of their 17 away league matchs have ended all-square.
Cardiff City were relegated from the Premier League last season but still have a chance of making an immediate return. Only six points separate them from the final play-off position. Like their opponents though, Cardiff aren't in the best of form at present. Two of their last five league games have been won, both away victories against struggling sides. Home form has seen Cardiff draw four of their last five league fixtures. In their last home league game, they twice had to come from behind to get a point against relegation candidates Wigan Athletic. That was a repeat of their previous home game against Reading. Not since Boxing Day have Cardiff managed to take the lead in a home Championship match. A bet on a draw is a good one to make here.
