Ethiopia were brave in their opening game of the 2021 AFCON but fell narrowly to Cape Verde in Group A. Their next assignment is a big one, taking on hosts Cameroon, who are coming from a win. Cameroon rallied from a goal down to beat Burkina Faso 2-1, Vincent Aboubakar scoring two first half penalties to win it. They will be looking to seal qualification here, as six points will be enough. That win was Cameroon’s fifth straight and they go into this game having scored two or more in three of their last five matches. They also have three clean sheets in the last four matches and playing at home will once again place them as favorites in this game.

Ethiopia’s return to the premier competition in the continent was not very rosy; 12 minutes into their game against Cape Verde they were a man down and went on to lose 1-0. Yared Bayeh was sent off for a foul on Julio Tavares and it was tough for them thereafter. Tavares would score the winner in the 44th minute. It was the fifth straight game that Ethiopia went to the half time break trailing. They aren’t the best scorers around too, having failed to score more than one goal in their last eight competitive matches. In their last 11 matches across all competitions, Ethiopia have managed just three wins and will definitely be underdogs here
