Unbeaten Benfica are hosted by Liga 3 side Caldas, in a classic David and Goliath battle of the Portuguese Cup. Caldas have started the league in great fashion. They are still unbeaten, winning three of their last four games. The hosts also managed to eliminate second division side Covilha to reach this round, easily dispatching them 3-0. It has not always gone smoothly for Caldas however in home turf. They have won just two of their last eight games, conceding in six of those. It is also the first time that the two sides will meet for a competitive fixture. 

Benfica are on the other end of the spectrum, flying high in both the league and the Champions League. Their second draw in the space of a week against French giants PSG not only cemented their position in the qualifying places of the group but also maintained their impressive unbeaten start to the season, which currently stands at seventeen competitive games. When it comes to games within Portugal, Benfica’s record is even more impressive, winning nine of their last ten domestic encounters. While the two team have not met for a competitive fixture before, the gulf of quality is imminent, and while Caldas will be preparing for a historic game that does not come around often, Benfica will want to see it off quickly and painlessly.
