After starting their life back in Serie A with a point, Cagliari have a tough ask against Inter Milan this week. This matchday two that will be played at the Unipol Domus will see the visitors start on three points. Cagliari held Torino to a goalless draw on their return to top-flight in their first match. It was a reasonably good match and coach Claudio Ranieri was also happy with how things have progressed. Yet, it is not a great place to be in because their form in Serie A isn’t one to be particularly happy about. They have won just one of their last 12 Serie A games - losing eight and drawing three, although going back to the 2021-22 season. Playing at home hasn’t been a comfortable facet either with Cagliari losing five of their last six at home against Serie A sides.

Inter started their campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Monza. Lautaro Martinez was the star of the show with both those goals as they came to terms with a season without Romelu Lukaku. There is a reasonable sense of familiarity though, as Inter have started their last four seasons with consecutive wins. Another victory here can’t be ruled out based on history, as the Nerazzurri have won 11 of their last 13 Serie A matches against Cagliari, losing just once. They have also won their last three away Serie A matches against them, so visiting this venue won’t be too intimidating for the visitors. Eight wins across their last nine Serie A matches also give confidence to Inter, as they look to set early pace in their quest to stay in the Scudetto race.
