Atletico Paranense vs Club Libertad Prediction & Betting Tips - Copa Libertadores

Athletico Paranaense will be at home in round five of the Copa Libertadores against Club Libertad on Wednesday. Pooled in Group G, Athletico sit top with Libertad in third. Athletico will know that a win in this match will see them qualify for the knockout round with a game to spare. The Brazilian side have amassed seven points from four matches and are one point above second and third place. They lost 2-1 last time out in the competition to Atletico Mineiro and will be keen to get back to winning ways. Paulo Turra’s charges come to this match having ended a three-game losing skid by winning their last two fixtures. Both matches were against Botafogo in the Cup and the league. They actually lost the Cup match 1-0 but won the tie on penalties. The Furacao have struggled with scoring goals and haven’t scored more than one goal a match in the last five outings. Their home form is excellent though with only one loss suffered since last November across all competitions. So the lack of goals won’t particularly bother them that much considering also they won the reverse fixture.

Club Libertad are one point adrift of top spot in Group G and will know that a win here will take them closer to the last 16 round. The Paraguayan side have been abysmal at home in the competition but have excelled away. Both of their wins have come away with the latest seeing them beat bottom side Alianza Lima 2-1 in round four. Daniel Garnero’s charges will therefore be confident of coming away with all three points here. Their recent form is also a source of motivation. The Gumarelo Repollero have won five of their last six matches. They had won five straight but the streak ended last time out as they went down 2-0 to Cerro Porteno. Their defence has aided largely their rich vein of form and they will be keen to register another clean sheet here. All but one of the last five meetings between these two teams have produced a winner, Libertad however have won only once.
