Burundi will look to maintain their perfect record in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they take on Senegal on Monday afternoon. The Swallows currently lead Group L in this competition while the Lions of Teranga are in third place. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Burundi got off to an impressive start to their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign, securing all three points in their opening match against Malawi with a 3-2 victory on the road. 

That result extended the Swallows' unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions, including two wins and two draws. They are also having a positive World Cup qualification campaign, currently in third place in their group.

At home, Burundi have a record of two wins, two losses and one draw in their last five matches. The hosts are aiming to return to the AFCON for the first time since the 2018-19 season. 

Meanwhile, Senegal saw an opening match victory snatched from their grasp when Burkina Faso found a goal in stoppage time to cancel out what looked like it would be a winning goal by Sadio Mane in the first half.

Still, the 1-1 draw represents the Lions of Teranga’s fifth consecutive match without defeat, including three wins and two draws, dating back to their defeat to the Ivory Coast in the previous edition of the AFCON earlier this year. 

Senegal have faced Burundi twice in the past, both times during qualifying for AFCON in 2015-16, and they won on both occasions, overcoming the Swallows 2-0 on the road and 3-1 at home.
