Burton Albion host Wigan Athletic in League One on Tuesday knowing they are likely safe from relegation, but not mathematically so. The Brewers need just one more point from their final two games to assure safety, while the Latics are playing for pride and little else. Will our prediction back the Brewers to get the point they need from the match?

Burton come into the game in their best form of the season under Gary Bowyer. They have lost just two of the last nine, winning five and drawing too. That form has seen them almost certainly assure themselves of safety as they lie 20th but have 46 points compared to 43 for Bristol Rovers and Crawley, who both have just one game to go. Crucially, Burton’s goal difference is -15 compared to -27 and -28 for the other two teams. 

The Brewers come into this game in good spirits having beaten Cambridge United 2-1 at home at the weekend, a result which likely assured them of safety due to their much better goal difference, but which saw Cambridge confirmed as relegated.

Wigan lie 16th in the table with 54 points after a season where they have drawn more games than they have won. Unbeaten in the last six, they have won two and drawn four of those games including their last match, a 1-1 draw away to Blackpool.
