Burnley’s charge to rise from the relegation zone will continue on Sunday when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in a crunch game at the Turf Moor. The Clarets are placed 18th in the league standings, with 28 points while visiting Wolves come having packed up 49 points and placed eighth. While Burnley were expected to suffer after the exit of long-serving manager Sean Dyche, it has so far been a great start to life under Mike Jackson. They are coming from a 2-0 win over Southampton, and the earlier 1-1 draw could have served a better result had Max Cornet not missed a penalty. The new manager will be targeting a third unbeaten outing, which would definitely see Burnley rise from the relegation zone, even if just briefly. The Clarets are a point below the safe zone and with a better goal difference than 17th placed Everton. They have scored in three of their last five matches and at home, they have two straight wins, scoring five times.

Wolverhampton Wanderers do not take into this game a very strong run; in two of their last three matches, they’ve suffered losses to teams below them – Newcastle United and Leeds United. They go into this game straight from a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United, their third straight outing without a clean sheet. Wolves will not only meet a hungry Burnley, they face a side they have failed to beat in the last six meetings. The last time Wolves visited Turf Moor, they lost 2-1 and in the two matches that have followed, against Burnley, they have failed to score. This will particularly be a concern because Wolves haven’t been very strong in attack this season. They are the lowest scorers in the top nine, with 33 goals in 32 matches, just five goals more than Burnley, a side 10 places below. Three wins in four away matches ahead of this will also push Bruno Lage to want more from his charges and it may just get tougher.
