Burnley vs Watford Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Joseph King | in Championship Predictions
Matchday 32 of the English Championship sees Burnley taking on Watford at Turf Moor as we enter the final stretch of the league season. Burnley have one foot in next season’s Premier League as they sit atop the table, with a seven point lead over second-place Sheffield and a massive 17 point lead over third-place Middlesbrough. Watford, on the other hand, are still fighting for a chance at the promotion playoff. The Hornets sit sixth on 46 points, putting them a point ahead of seventh-place and even on points with fifth-place Luton. A game in hand disadvantage means Watford desperately need points to keep up the pace for their playoff push.

Burnley - Watford: Form Analysis
Burnley have yet to lose this season at Turf Moor with a combined record of 14 wins and four draws from their 18 home matches across all competitions. This also includes a dominant goal differential of +26 with 40 goals scored and 24 conceded. Burnley are in a fantastic run of form with nine wins and a draw in their last 10 matches across all competitions following a 3-0 home win over Preston in the league. The Clarets have also ripped off 10 straight Championship wins, seven of which have included a clean sheet.
Looking to put a stop to Burnley’s phenomenal run is a Watford side going through a winless stretch of four matches following a 1-1 home draw to Blackburn in their last fixture. The Hornets have now drawn three and lost one in their last four with their last win coming over Blackpool in the middle of January. Watford must get back on track soon if they are to participate in the promotion playoff as they could find themselves sitting as low as ninth-place after all the teams below them make up their game in hand advantage.

Burnley & Watford Squad Analysis
Manager Vincent Kompany won’t have too many injury concerns ahead of the welcome of Watford with only two players definitely ruled out for the clash. Striker Jay Rodriguez will be a miss up top but Nathan Tella’s recent three goal performance against Preston should help Burnley cope with the lack of their #9. The hosts will also be without winger Manuel Benson who has chipped in with seven goals and three assists this season.
Watford have received a huge boost over the last few days, welcoming back a number of key players into the starting lineup. Joao Pedro returned to captain the side in Watford’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn after a long injury layoff and is expected to make his second consecutive start here. The Hornets also returned Tom Cleverley, Imran Louza and Ken Sema who all saw minutes in the second half of the match against Blackburn.

Our Burnley vs Watford Prediction
It’s difficult to look past Burnley here given their dominant form this season, especially when playing at Turf Moor where they have yet to record a defeat. Watford manager Slaven Bilic will have a much larger pool of players to choose from here and the return of Joao Pedro is a huge boost for the visitors. However, many of these players are returning after long injury layoffs and Bilic himself stated that it will take a few weeks until they are all up to full speed. With that in mind, we’re backing the hosts to continue their winning ways and get the three points here. Our Burnley vs Watford prediction: Burnley to win
