Burnley vs Sheffield United Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
Sheffield United returned to winning ways after an impressive showing against Tottenham Hotspur and they will be hoping to make it two in a row when they visit Burnley on Sunday. Only two points separate the two sides ahead of the game, with Sheffield in seventh place on 47 points while Burnley are 10th on 45 points. For both sides, the chase for places in Europe are key in their remaining matches, which makes this a crucial game. Hosts Burnley could leap to seventh with a win here but they are heavily handicapped by a lean squad. The team has a number of players out injured while some declined to extend deals with the club and are no longer with the team. Jeff Hendrick, Joe hart and Aaron Lennon have left while Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes and Jay Rodriguez who have scored a combined 23 of Burnley’s 36 goals are out injured. It left manager Sean Dyche with just seven substitute players to pick from as the team took on Crystal Palace. While they registered a second straight win, the manager will hope he can rotate well for the remaining matches, with his opponents having more options to pick from. Burnley are a decent team, and have proven it in the last two matches after recovering from the 5-0 loss to Manchester City in their first match as the league returned. They have gone on to register back to back wins and with clean sheets against Palace and Watford. It will be a tougher challenge here but for a side unbeaten at home in the last five league matches, they should be able to handle Sheffield United. They have won eight of their 16 home league matches this season and also have eight clean sheets in the 16 games. Burnley have scored one goal or less in 10 of the 16 home league matches. In their last 10 league matches, they have suffered just one loss and registered six wins and six clean sheets and have failed to score in three.
Sheffield United on the other hand, recovered from their slow start since football returned, registering a first win in four matches, with a 3-1 win over Tottenham. Though they were somehow aided by a controversial VAR decision, there’s really little fault that came from their Thursday win. Sheffield suffered back to back 3-0 losses to Newcastle United and Manchester United before falling 2-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter final clash. The win over Spurs will boost their morale but they have to pick up well in this away match, having failed to win, or score, in three straight away league matches since the return of football. Generally, Sheffield have not posted the best results away from home in the league this season; they have just four wins in 16 matches. Eight of the 16 have ended in draws and they have failed to score in six. Sheffield may have shipped in a lot of goals recently but one thing about the team is the defensive discipline they have shown since returning to the Premier League. They have the fourth best defence in the league, having conceded 32 goals so far. However, there has been an imbalance in attack, having scored just 33, which leaves them with the weakest attack in the top 11. The team has scored more than one goal in just two of their last 15 league matches.

Our Burnley vs Sheffield United Prediction
Both Burnley and Sheffield are coming from wins and will be giving a fight worthy of contestants for slots in Europe. Burnley have been doing well lately, especially at home and will be looking to register a third straight win when Sheffield visits. Sheffield are not the strongest on the road, and have drawn half of their away league matches. One thing stands out though for both teams – they do not score lots of goals. Burnley, missing their key men forward have suffered a bit, and Sheffield generally defend better than they attack. With this in mind, the best bet here would be for the game to end in Under 2.5 goals.
