Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways when they visit Burnley for their next Premier League game. This match pits the home team, placed 19th with 11 points, against second placed Liverpool, on 39 points. A poor start to the campaign is all to blame for Burnley’s season so far. A third league win of the campaign is however going to be a big motivation for the side. The hosts are coming from a crucial 2-0 away win at Fulham. That result moved them to within three points of 17th place. The win over Fulham was also their second of the last five matches. Burnley will be gunning for a second win of the busy festive season against a team they’ve struggled to beat. In their last three meetings with Liverpool, Burnley lost. A run of eight home losses in nine matches however doesn’t sit well with their ambitions for this game.

Liverpool have lost some momentum with two straight draws at home. As they travel for this game, they will be looking to regain some of that. Generally, it has been a patchy run for the Reds, winning once in the last four matches across all competitions. That win came in the League Cup, a 5-1 victory over West Ham United. In 10 matches coming into this one, Liverpool have six wins. After three straight home matches, Liverpool will now be heading away from home. They are unbeaten in five away matches and will hope to take advantage of Burnley’s poor form at home. With just one loss in 11 matches against Burnley, Liverpool will rightly enter this game as favorites. However, in addition to their already long injury list, Liverpool could miss Luis Diaz and Kostantinos Tsimikas. The duo left the game against Arsenal with injuries.
