Two teams in the midst of disappointing seasons, matchday 22 of the Premier League sees Burnley host Leicester at Turf Moor on Saturday. The visitors are currently sitting 10th and, after winning the FA Cup and nearly nicking fourth place ahead of Chelsea, certainly weren’t expecting this kind of regression. However, Brendan Rodgers’ side should have cause for optimism after following up a shock, and albeit lucky, 1-0 win against Liverpool in the league with a 4-1 trouncing of Watford in the FA Cup. They will take on a Burnley side who have been really suffering this season and look set for an arduous relegation battle. The Clarets currently sit 18th in the table, winning just one match in the league this season, and trail safety by two points.

Leicester will have to deal with a massive absentee list for this match and will be without as many as an astonishing 16 players. The Africa Cup of Nations has truly come at the wrong time, as Rodgers will lose four players to the tournament. Burnley are dealing with a fair bit of absences as well, with the most notable being Maxwell Cornet. The Ivorian is away at the AFCON and has been Sean Dyche’s standout player this season, leading Burnley’s scoring charts with six goals in only 12 matches after his summer move from Lyon. This will be Leicester’s second game in 2022, after already having two matches suspended due to too many players missing. Despite the raft of injuries to the Leicester squad, they can still field a strong lineup with the likes of Maddison, Tielemans, Castagne and Soyuncu - a testament to the depth the Foxes have accrued over the past few seasons.
