Burnley will be back to action in the premier league with a home game against Aston Villa on Sunday. Going into this game the hosts are 18th without a point while Villa are ninth with three points. Burnley had no activity on Match Day 2 as their clash with Luton Town was postponed. Their opening match of the season was a tough one, going down 3-0 at home to Manchester City. Vincent Kompany’s charges did play a friendly match with Manchester United and won 3-0. They will hope to replicate that in this game. In this game they will however be without Anass Zaroury who was sent off in the opening game. Burnley, promoted after finishing top of the Championship, will be keen on staying up. It is such early games they will be targeting to amass points. The loss to City was their first competitively in four matches. Four of their last five matches in competitive action have had over 2.5 goals, the team keeping clean sheets in two.

These two sides’ last meeting in the Premier League ended 1-1, in May of 2022. Aston Villa will go into this one with the favorites’ feeling. In their most recent outing, Villa thrashed Hibernian 5-0 away from home in the Conference League. That was an improvement on their 4-0 win over Everton in their last league match. They’ve scored in each of their three opening matches this season, a total of 10 goals. Ollie Watkins helped himself to a hat trick in the win over Hibernian and will be fired up for this. He hasn’t scored a league goal so far and will hope to open his account here. Each of Villa’s last four competitive matches have had over 2.5 goals.
