Burnley are set to host Arsenal as they go in search of their first win of the season in the fifth round of matches in the Premier League. The hosts are placed 18th with just a point from the opening four matches while Arsenal are 16th with three points. The two sides haven’t had the best of starts, clearly, but Burnley’s early run is worse and they’ll be irked by the fact that in three of their four league games, they’ve scored first but dropped points. The hosts are coming from a 3-1 away loss to Everton, another game in which they scored first but failed to hold on. They’ve conceded two or more goals in three of four league matches and after the loss to Everton, they have no win in their last seven league matches. Six of the seven matches have ended in losses and they have just two clean sheets in their last 10 league games. At home, Burnley have no win in their last 12 matches in the league, and they have just one clean sheet in 14 league games there.

Arsenal are coming from a hard fought 1-0 win over Norwich, their first in four league games this season. It wasn’t an impressive performance from the Gunners but they will take in the three points gained after a tough start. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored the only goal in the game and after his earlier hat trick against West Brom in the League Cup, he stands out as Arsenal’s best performer so far. The Gunners will have reason to want him fully fit and focused for this game. He has eight goals in seven matches against Burnley, though he also scored an own goal that saw Burnley beat Arsenal last season. Arsenal have gone winless in their last three matches against Burnley and in this game, Granit Xhaka has been sent off twice. He will be suspended for this and maybe that’s a blessing for under pressure manager Mikel Arteta. Arsenal haven’t scored more than a goal in their last four league matches and each of their last three meetings with Burnley have ended in under 2.5 goals.
