Bristol City vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Kennedy Kechula | in FA Cup Predictions
Bristol City and Manchester City are set to face off in the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium. Bristol defeated fellow Championship side West Brom 3-0 to advance to this round while Man City beat Premier League rivals Arsenal 1-0. Bristol head into this match on a 12-game unbeaten run; they have won half of those, with the latest being a 1-0 home win over Hull City. In the Championship, Nigel Pearson’s men are 13th having won a similar number of matches (11) as they have drawn and lost. They have scored 43 goals and conceded 41 which means that on average their matches end in both teams scoring. This is highlighted further by the fact that this year alone they have kept just three clean sheets in 11 matches played across all competitions. Bristol drew 1-1 at home in the third round with Swansea, forcing a replay which they won in extra time. The Robins have been this far in the FA Cup only 14 times in their history and have been eliminated 13 times. Nahki Wells will be the player to watch for Bristol in this one. The forward has netted 12 goals in all competitions including two in Bristol’s last two matches. With Tommy Conway out injured and Antoine Semenyo having left the club mid-season, Sam Bell has to lead the line, and has scored twice including in the win over West Brom.
Manchester City are favourites to win this season’s competition but they have struggled with inconsistency this campaign and come into this match having won three of their last six matches. Pep Guardiola’s men did however beat Bournemouth 4-1 away from home last time out to end a run of two matches without a win. The Cityzens have conceded in each and every one of their last six matches with only one match in that stretch failing to see both teams score. Despite their struggles recently, Man City go into this match knowing that they have won their last 10 FA Cup away games which is the longest winning run by any team in the competition. They have also won their last 12 matches in the competition against teams in lower divisions. Guardiola is expected to tinker with his squad for this match with a crucial league tie against Newcastle coming up next weekend. This could see Kevin de Bruyne take to the pitch after missing the last two matches due to illness while Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez could keep their places in the team after scoring against Bournemouth. City could continue to be without defenders Aymeric Laporte and John Stones due to injury.
