by Devesh Jaganath in Championship Predictions
Gameweek 13 in the Championship will see Bristol City welcome Ipswich Town to Ashton Gate Stadium on Wednesday evening. The hosts are currently in eighth place in the league with 18 points after the first 12 matches. Meanwhile, the visitors have made a dream start to the 2023-24 campaign. After securing promotion last season, Ipswich are currently in second place in the Championship standings with 28 points. They are just five points behind the league leaders Leicester City and also have a game in hand on the sides around them. Bristol City - Ipswich Town: Form Analysis
Bristol City have made a mixed start to the season, losing three of their four matches ahead of the international break. However, they bounced back with a 1-0 win over Coventry City last week and will hope to kick on from here. The Robins have taken eight of a possible 18 points on their home patch this season and have lost just one of their last three at Ashton Gate. Their major strength this season has been in defence, where they have only conceded 12 goals to date. Only league leaders Leicester and Birmingham have better defensive records this term. However, they now face one of the highest-scoring sides in the league, and the bookmakers make the hosts the outsiders in this one.
Ipswich’s return to the Championship has been nothing short of remarkable. The Tractor Boys are not just in second place at the moment but have already opened up a six-point gap to Leeds United in third place. They recorded their ninth win in 11 matches this season last week, beating Preston North End 4-2 at home. That was also their seventh consecutive league match without defeat, six of which ended in victory. The only defeat they suffered this term was back in August to Leeds United. The visitors have been lethal in front of goal this season. They have already found the back of the net on 25 occasions and have the highest goals per 90 minutes in the Championship. The Blues are yet to be beaten on the road this term, with four wins and a draw in five games.

Bristol City & Ipswich Town Squad Analysis
Nigel Pearson has a fairly lengthy casualty list coming into this match. After a bright start to the season, George Tanner (ankle) and Zak Vyner (ligament) are expected to miss at least the next month of football due to injuries. Ross McCrorie, Rob Atkinson, and Ayman Benarous have not featured as yet this season and are not expected to return in the foreseeable future.
Kieran McKenna has only one enforced absentee in Lee Evans, who is suffering from an injury to his knee. Wes Burns, currently on four yellow cards, is at risk of suspension if he picks up another caution in this match. Nathan Broadhead and Conor Chaplin are tied as the top scorers for the visitors on five goals each this season.
