Bristol City vs Cardiff Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Bristol City host Cardiff City in the Championship on Saturday (kick off, 3pm) with both sides on 44 points from their 34 league games so far. It is the Robins that have flown higher up the table than the Bluebirds as they sit 12th on goal difference with Cardiff 14th and Middlesbrough sandwiched between them. Both teams have also scored 39 goals this season, but the Robins defensive record is much better with 39 conceded compared to Cardiff City's 48. Liam Manning's Bristol City team have lost their last two games, to two relegation battlers, a 1-0 loss at home to QPR followed by last weekend's 2-1 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday. The Robins have won just two of their last ten games, drawing three. Interestingly, they have the lowest percentage of games with over 2.5 goals in the division with 41%, ties with Stoke and West Brom. 

Four games ago, Cardiff City were struggling to win a game at home, having lost their last three, but had won two of their last three on the road. Four games later, they are now unbeaten at home in their last two, including a 2-1 win over Stoke last weekend, and drawing against Blackburn 0-0, but they have lost both their last two away games. Erol Bulut's team have been inconsistent like this for the vast majority of the season and it has stymied what many had hoped to be a push for at least the playoff spots this season. One positive for Cardiff is that they have not lost three away games in the league in a row all season, but they also know that their record recently at Ashton Gate is not great, losing the last two matches when making the trip across the River Severn into England.
