West Ham United must have celebrated Chelsea’s loss to Arsenal on Wednesday, as that guaranteed their top four hopes stay alive for now. They will be traveling to Brighton on Saturday in Round 36 of the Premier League seeking a win to keep their slim hopes alive. Ahead of the game West Ham have 58 points and are placed fifth while hosts Brighton have 37 points, in 17th place. Brighton have confirmed survival in the top flight despite their loss to Wolves in the last game. Fulham’s loss ensured Brighton stay up and after managing just a win in their last six league matches, they’ll be hoping to improve. They’ve also failed to score in three of their last five matches and it will not be easier with their lead scorer Neal Maupay suspended. Brighton will also miss the services of defender Lewis Dunk, who was sent off in the loss to Wolves. They go to this game unbeaten in the last three matches, and with three straight clean sheets; they’ve had wins over Newcastle United and Leeds United in there but this will be a tougher challenge. Having won just three of their 17 home league matches this season places them as underdogs here.

West Ham United suffered a heavy blow to their top four hopes in their last game, losing at home to fellow top four contenders, Everton. Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal in the first half saw the Hammers hopes for Champions League football dented and they will be hopeful of a win here to keep the fading hopes alive. However, three losses in the last four league games makes this mission very hard and perhaps a place in the Europa League would be a good consolation. Two of their losses have been against teams in contention for top four places, which further complicates their targets. It will further be difficult with their defensive performances, having failed to keep a clean sheet in eight straight matches. Their defensive woes aside, West Ham have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven matches and can be devastating in attack on a good day.
