Brighton - Manchester United: Form Analysis
Brighton and Hove Albion have blown hot and cold in recent weeks but they are still in with a chance of securing a place in Europe for next season whether. Roberto De Zerbi’s men have won the most matches (15) since their promotion to the top flight back in the 2017/18 season and this has also seen them set a new points record, at 52 and counting. They have played three matches less than the teams around them and if they win all three starting with Thursday’s, then they will almost be certain of a continental berth. The Seagulls thumped Wolves 6-0 last time out and coupling this with their recent successes over United, they will expect nothing but a win from this fixture. Brighton have won the last two league matches against United including a resounding 4-0 win the last time they hosted this fixture. United however ended their FA Cup fairytale at the semifinal stage two weeks ago so this will be the perfect opportunity to have the last laugh.
Manchester United have also been on and off the boil in the lead-up to this match and this run has seen them get eliminated from the Europa League as well as slip to fourth in the race for next season’s Champions League. They have racked up 63 points and have a seven-point buffer ahead of fifth placed Liverpool. United have also played a game less than the teams around them and a win on Thursday will move them into third on the table. The Red Devils saw a two-goal lead slip in their last away game as they drew 2-2 against Tottenham Hotspur and they will hope to do better here. Erik ten Hag’s men have struggled away from home and especially in the league where they have won just twice of their last seven road games. They however bounced back from the disappointment against Spurs with a 1-0 win against Aston Villa over the weekend.

Brighton & Manchester United Squad Analysis
Brighton have had to contend with a long injury list and that list was added upon last time out when Joel Veltman limped off in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers with slightly over an hour gone. He could therefore miss Thursday’s clash but Roberto De Zerbi has options within his squad as can be confirmed by how he left regular starters Kaoru Mitoma, Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo on the bench and they still scored six against Wolves. Deniz Undav, Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck each scored a brace in the game so should keep their places in the starting team.
Manchester United have a plethora of players out injured too but no casualties were reported after their game against Aston Villa. Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek and Alejandro Garnacho are some of the players who will be out for this visit to Brighton. Ten Hag should keep the same squad that started against Villa as there is no point in breaking up a winning team with club top scorer Marcus Rashford to lead the line.
