An M23 derby is on the cards when Brighton host Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium in Saturday’s Premier League clash. At the time of writing, Brighton sit eighth with 32 points while Palace are six places and eight points below. The hosts are this season looking to seal a place in Europe for the second straight time. They have done well so far in the Europa League. Roberto De Zerbi’s men are however coming into this clash on the back of a thumping 4-0 loss to Luton Town. The game saw Elijah Adebayo claim his first-ever Premier League hat trick with Chiedozie Ogbene sealing the rout. Luton raced to a 2-0 lead inside three minutes to avenge their 4-1 defeat at Brighton in their opening game of the season. The loss brought an end to their six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. In the Premier League however, Brighton have only lost one game at the Amex Stadium which came against West Ham.

Palace are out to beat the drop and a win here will be crucial to that target. The Eagles arrive for the match on the back of a morale-boosting 3-2 win over fellow strugglers Sheffield United. A brace from Eberechi Eze in the first half coupled with a Michael Olise second-half strike delivered three points for the visitors. The victory was the perfect response to a 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Arsenal that left doubts on manager Roy Hodgson’s future. The negative from the win, however, was that both Eze and Olise were stretchered off with injuries. Palace have been active in the January transfer window having roped in Daniel Muñoz and Blackburn teenager Adam ­Wharton.
