Just why shouldn't Brighton and Hove Albion make it into the Champions League? They are seventh in the Premier League and host Brentford who are eighth. Brighton are only above Brentford on goal difference but have two games in hand. The FA Cup semi-finalists also have three games in hand on fourth placed Tottenham and only seven points behind them with the two sides meeting next month. Brighton have only lost one of their last nine league games. Four of their last five at home in the Premier League have been won, all to nil. The other game was a 1-0 home loss to Fulham. The reverse fixture with Brentford saw them lose 2-0 but they have improved since then.

Brentford are another surprise side attempting to make it into European competition next season. The Londoners are in eighth place but they have played 27 games, so several sides have games in hand on them. Even if they don't make it into Europe, it's been an impressive season for them. Brentford have only one loss in their last nine league games though four have been drawn. They have drawn 12 league games this season and that may well count against them at the end of the season. Away form has seen Brentford only win three games with six drawn and four lost. Their last away league game was a win at struggling Southampton but that ended a run of three away league games without a win. Just three of their last 11 away league games has been won, though one was at Manchester City. Back Brighton to win this game.
