After 23 league matches, Brighton are 15th with 25 points and Villa ninth on 35 points. The loss to Leicester was Brighton’s second in 10 matches and 11th in 15 matches that they’ve kept the scores at under 2.5 goals. They have four clean sheets in their last seven matches and are unbeaten in five league matches (3 wins and 2 draws). In the five league matches, Brighton have four clean sheets and their last six have produced under 2.5 goals. They have beaten three top 10 teams (Leeds United, Tottenham and Liverpool) in the last five matches and will hope to add Villa to that list. In their last home game, they beat Tottenham 1-0, that being their only win in 15 home matches.

An improvement away from home is however what Villa needs most at this point as they eye a place in Europe. In their last away match, they beat Southampton 1-0, and that is their only away win in five league matches. It is also their only clean sheet in five away league matches. They have lost three of the last four away league matches.
