Second in Ligue 1 Brest will face second from bottom Metz in their next league game, scheduled for this Sunday. While Brest are 12 points behind league leaders PSG, Metz are four points behind the safety line. The two sides had mixed results ahead of this game but three points will be the target here. Brest are coming from a 1-0 win over another relegation-threatened side, Lorient. The match had late drama as Romain Del Castillo scored in the 86th minute and minutes later Bilal Brahimi was sent off. A more comfortable outing will be desirable for Brest, having scored late goals in the last two games. That win was a welcome break for Brest, who had gone winless in the earlier two games. Les Pirates haven't been quite fluid in attack, failing to score more than once in the last four matches. They’ve however done well defensively and that could be all they need to secure an automatic Champions League spot. In the last 10 league matches, they have six clean sheets, while they managed more than a goal in just three of the 10.

In this encounter, Metz will be meeting the best defence in the league so far. It would pose as a tough game as Metz have the second lowest scoring return in the league. A double for Brest seems likely here, after a 1-0 away win in the first meeting. Metz have actually failed to score in the last two meetings with Brest, both matches being decided by a goal. The visitors have however done well in recent matches on the attacking front. At 4-0 down against Monaco in their last league game, they threatened a comeback, but it would end in a 5-2 home loss. That marked a fifth straight league game in which they managed to score. In the last 16 league matches, Metz managed four wins; all of those came against sides 14th or lower. This will be a tougher encounter, but that doesn’t diminish the fact they badly need three points for their survival quest.
