Brentford vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Predictions
Brentford have one last chance in their bid for European football next season, as they host champions Manchester City. Going into this final game of the season, Brentford are two points and two places below seventh. Playing at home against the already crowned champions should give Brentford some good hope as they seek to complete a double over City.

Brentford - Manchester City: Form Analysis
The loss to Liverpool badly dented Brentford’s hopes for Europe but they have risen to win the most recent two matches. They will go into this one hoping to frustrate the champions. In their last six matches, the loss to Liverpool is their only defeat. Brentford have four wins in the last five matches but just two clean sheets in their last 11. They have done well in attack too, failing to score just once in the last six matches. In their last five games, Brentford have managed two or more goals, even in light of the suspension of their main striker. The Bees staged a great comeback in their game against North London side Tottenham Hotspur last week, away from home. After conceding early, they settled well to return in the second half reenergized and scored three times to win 3-1. It hasn’t been great for them at home lately, though they come into this game with two straight wins. The wins over Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are all they have in the last five home games. In their last meeting with Manchester City, Brentford registered a well-deserved 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium just before the World Cup.
Manchester City had a tough outing last time out, away to Brighton, playing to a 1-1 draw. The champions clearly weren’t going for the jugular in that game, as they have more important business to attend to. They will hope to wrap up another season with a win but will be under no pressure over that. City have two finals to prepare for and it will not be a surprise to see Pep Guardiola resting his key players. It has been the case for most of their recent matches, in light of a busy period in early June. They will face rivals Manchester United and Italian side Inter Milan in the FA Cup and Champions League finals in June. Manchester City are in great shape, having failed to win just three of their last 21 matches ahead of this. In the Premier League, the draw with Brighton was the first time they failed to win in 13 matches. For all their good form, City have shown some defensive frailty; they have just three clean sheets in their last 10 league matches. These clean sheets have however come in their last five matches in the league. Ahead of this game, City have scored three goals or more in six of their last 10 matches. They have five wins in six away matches in the Premier League and are unbeaten in the last eight.

Brentford & Manchester City Squad Analysis
The news about Ivan Toney’s eight-month ban is still the biggest at Brentford today. However, the London side has managed to put that on the side and had a brilliant outing against Tottenham last time out. Toney will be remembered for his brace in the first leg against City, which handed Brentford the win in Manchester. Apart from Toney’s absence, skipper Pontus Jansson will also be out though with an injury. Keane Lewis-Potter will also miss this game, as he nurses a knee injury. Christian Norgaard hasn’t recovered from an Achilles injury and also misses out.
Manchester City could be without Phil Foden for this game, after he was taken off in the Brighton game. Pep Guardiola is also not likely to risk Nathan Ake, who has had a niggling thigh problem in recent weeks. This match is ideally a dead rubber for City and we expect to see most first team players left out.

Our Brentford vs Manchester City Prediction
Brentford have been good in attack and they will want to bring that into this game, as they seek a key win. Manchester City do not have to win here, and will be inclined more towards resting players. Both sides haven't had a lot of clean sheets recently. Our prediction for Brentford v Manchester City is for both teams to score.
Brentford vs Manchester City - Other Interesting Predictions
Under 2.5 goals
Brentford are adapting to life without their lead scorer Ivan Toney. So far, they are doing well, and will be motivated by their European ambitions here. They haven't conceded more than a goal and this could extend against a Manchester City side likely to rest top players. This gives a bigger likelihood for the game to end in under 2.5 goals.
Manchester City to score less than two goals
Manchester City had to battle to a 1-1 draw with Brighton the last time out. They haven't scored more than a goal in their last two matches. We don’t expect them to invest a lot of energy in this game, in light of the two finals ahead. Back them to score less than two goals.
