When Unai Emery took over at Aston Villa, a relegation battle looked likely. Months later, his side are in sixth place and lookiing to get a win at ninth placed Brentford. Villa are only six points behind the final Champions League place (from a game more) but just three off qualifying for the Europa League. Aston Villa have earned 32 points from their last 15 Premier League games. Over that period, only Manchester City have got more points. Their last five league games have all been won with seven of the last eight ending in victory. Ollie Watkins is in top form with 11 goals in his last 12 matches. Opposing striker Ivan Toney might need to get worried as Watkins may well take his place in the England squad. Villa have won six of their last eight away Premier League matches, the only loss being at Manchester City. A massive improvement considering they'd gone eight away league games without a win before this excellent run of form.

Brentford's hopes of European football next season have been fading in recent weeks. The Londoners come into this match hoping to avoid a fourth successive league loss. Five league games have been played since a win at Southampton. Seventh place might be good enough to qualify for Europe but Brentford are now six points adrift of that position with two games played more. Even so, it's been another good season for them without a single hint of ending up in a relegation battle. They have won seven home games in the Premier League this season with six draws and just two defeats. In recent weeks though, Brentford have only earned five points from four home games with the most recent being a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United. Another is likely this weekend and we tip Villa to get the win.
