Brentford will not have too long to recover after the loss to Manchester City; they dive straight into action with a home game against Aston Villa. Going into this game 14th placed Brentford have so far managed 20 points and Villa are two points ahead and two places above them. Brentford put up a spirited performance against a free-scoring Manchester City in the last game, but ended up 1-0 losers. It was still a positive output for Brentford, considering they had conceded twice in each of the earlier two matches but they’ve now failed to score in the last three games. They don’t have a clean sheet in their last five matches but on two occasions they’ve managed to score twice. In three of their last five matches, Brentford have conceded twice.

Aston Villa’s last outing was against Chelsea and though they scored first, they ended up 3-1 losers. They conceded two penalties in that game and will want to address their shortcomings in defence as they travel to London. Villa have done well since Steven Gerrard took charge and four wins in their last seven matches should come with a lot of confidence, facing a struggling side. Villa have only failed to score in one of their last seven matches but they have one clean sheet only in the last six. In the four wins they’ve registered in seven matches, Villa have scored twice in each.
