Brazil W vs Spain W Prediction & Betting Tips - Women's Olympic Tournament
by Nella Wagah in Football Predictions
Off the back of their quarter-final victories, Brazil and Spain have a rematch at the 2024 Olympic Games as they meet in the second semi-final. This match slated for Tuesday 6th August, will be played at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille. Read on for our preview and the prediction as Canarinhas take on La Roja.
The two nations clash just days after Spain beat Brazil in the last of their Group C encounters. For Brazil, two-time silver medalists, this is an opportunity to edge closer to their first ever Olympic gold. Meanwhile, Spain will be gunning for a first ever podium finish at the Olympics.
The Spaniards are the current world champions and also the UEFA Nations League winners. They came into the tournament as one of the favorites and so far they haven't disappointed, especially after their comeback to dump Colombia out. Will they be able to eliminate another South American side?

Brazil W - Spain W: Form Analysis
Among the teams still in the competition, Brazil were the side with the least points after the group stages. They couldn’t build on the opening win against Nigeria, going on to lose to Japan and Spain. However, they recovered well to beat hosts France 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
The South Americans left it late to bag that crucial win and the victory was notable as they missed the legendary Marta. Having lost to Spain in their first ever competitive game, Brazil have the chance to avenge in a span of days.
A second half collapse saw them concede twice against Spain after Marta’s dismissal. Brazil come into this game having lost twice in their last seven matches. Also, their form at Olympic Games has been patchy, failing to win consecutive matches in the last 12 outings.
In their current shape it is hard to believe Spain are on their debut Olympic Games.
Spain are having a dream run in Paris. This is their first time at the Olympic Games and they could actually cap it with a podium finish. Coming into the Games having won the world championship means the bare minimum for them is winning at least a medal.
From what they’ve shown so far, Spain are good enough to go for gold. The best of their showings in Paris was in the quarters as they rose from 2-0 down to draw Colombia then win on post-match penalties.
For the third game running, Spain scored a late goal, this time Irene Paredes’ stoppage time strike sending the match to extra time. It was the second time at Paris 2024 that Spain came from behind to win. In their very first Olympic match, they rose to beat Japan 2-1.

Brazil W & Spain W Squad Analysis
The biggest relief for Brazilian fans after their quarter-final win was the fact they did it without Marta. With much protestation, the forward was sent off against Spain and she will be serving the second match of her suspension.
On the sidelines, she can only hope Brazil’s chase for gold continues so she can feature in the final. Antonia da Costa could also miss this as she nurses the injury that saw her miss the France game.
Raphaelle Carvalho saved a penalty in the quarters before Gabi Portilho netted the winner late against France. These two will walk into the semis high in confidence after their performances against the hosts.
Brazil won without Marta in the quarters and will want to do it again in the semis.
Spain, on the other hand, haven't reported any injuries and could go into this game with a fully fit squad. Still, Montserrat Tome could make some tactical changes to address the realities of facing Brazil.
Having played 120 minutes, and facing a side that won inside 90 minutes could mean fatigue is an issue. Teresa Abelleira came off the bench against Colombia and should be fresh enough to step in from the start here.
It is also expected that the coach will name Jenni Hermoso in the starting team after her heroics against Colombia. With two assists in the Colombia game, Salma Paralluelo might have also earned her right to start again.

Our Brazil W vs Spain W Prediction
Brazil will be keen not to suffer a second successive loss to Spain in a span of days. They gave a brave performance in the first meeting despite returning for the second half with 10 players. Still without Marta, they will seek inspiration from their win against France.
However, this Spanish side is a tough one and brings extra quality to what Brazil can offer. They showed it in the comeback against a solid Colombian team, which will motivate them. Our prediction for Brazil v Spain is for Spain to win.
Brazil W vs Spain W - Other Interesting Predictions
Both teams to score.
Spain’s performance against Colombia exposed their defensive weaknesses. Brazil, at their level, will feel they can open up this Spanish side. Meanwhile, Brazil have defensive issues of their own and we can’t back them for a clean sheet. Our second prediction in this game is for both teams to score.
