Brazil vs Colombia Prediction & Betting Tips - Copa America
by Ian John in Copa America Predictions
Brazil takes on Colombia in Group D of the Copa America 2024 with top spot in the group on the line!
Colombia, unbeaten in their last 25 games, currently top the group with maximum points from their two games and have qualified for the quarterfinals.
Head coach Nestor Lorenzo has guided his team on a fantastic run of results, including starting their Copa America campaign very strongly with two excellent wins over Costa Rica and Paraguay. They need to avoid defeat to ensure they finish top of the group and likely avoid a game with Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
Brazil is entering this game with mixed form of late. Their opening Copa America game, a 0-0 draw with Costa Rica, was a very poor showing, but they thumped Paraguay 4-1 in their second fixture to go second in the group.
However, Dorival Junior's team are not yet assured of qualification and need at least one point from this game to be assured of reaching the quarterfinals. That said, to top the group, they will need to beat Colombia in San Francisco on Tuesday.
This is set up for an early Copa America classic between two of the big guns in the tournament!

Brazil - Colombia: Form Analysis
Brazil are unbeaten in 2024 but prior to that had lost their last three games of 2023 losing away to Uruguay and Colombia and then a shock home defeat to Argentina to leave them struggling in World Cup qualification.
However, wins over England, Mexico and Paraguay along with draws with Spain, the USA and Costa Rica have steadied the boat somewhat, although home fans and press were not impressed with their opening game draw with Costa Rica in this tournament.
Brazil have won this tournament nine times in their history and they were one of the favourites to perform well again in this tournament. Their form hasn't really backed that up and they are going to have to make significant improvements if they are to go deep and be a major contender for their 10th Copa America title.
In terms of form, Colombia could not be better placed for the game with Brazil. They have gone 25 games unbeaten and have landed one victory over Brazil in that run - a 2-1 win in a World Cup qualifier in Barranquilla last November.
Furthermore, Colombia have their last 10 straight as well as 20 of the 25 fixtures on their current unbeaten run. That's despite having a squad that doesn't have too many household names. Liverpool's Luis Diaz and veteran midfielder James Rodriguez being their two most famous players.
Nestor Lorenzo lines his team up in an attacking 4-3-3 formation and it has been a huge success. Certainly, they look well matches to give Brazil a stern test in this final Group D fixture, with top spot in the group on the line.
The winner of this fixture will take on the second-place team in Group C, likely to be Panama or the United States, while the team that finishes second in Group D will likely face Uruguay in the quarter-final.

Brazil & Colombia Squad Analysis
Brazil have no players suspended for the game although they do have four players on a yellow card, including Vinicius Jr and Lucas Paqueta (plus Wendell and Eder Militao). Another surety would see them absent for any quarterfinal tie.
Dorival Junior will likely keep faith with the team that thrashed Paraguay, which means Joao Gomes should start in midfield ahead of Douglas Luiz, while Gabriel Martinelli will have to start from the bench with youngster Savinho preferred on the right hand side of attack.
Youngster Endrick will likely start on the bench with Real Madrid's Rodrygo likely to be the focal point in attack.
Colombia does not have any suspended players, or any fresh injury concerns for the game with Brazil. Having confirmed qualification, coach Nestor Lorenzo could rest players. However, with top spot available and a chance to avoid Uruguay in the quarterfinals, expect Colombia to be at full strength for this game.
Jhon Cordoba, Jefferson Lerma and Richard Rios are the only players on a booking. Cordoba will be hoping he keeps his place in the team after coming in for Rafael Santos Borré for the game with Costa Rica after Borré started against Paraguay.
James Rodriguez and Luis Diaz remain the catalysts for most of Colombia's outstanding attacking play and they are sure to cause this Brazil team plenty of problems in the heat of San Francisco.

Our Brazil vs Colombia Prediction
Our prediction for the Copa America 2024 Group D clash Colombia vs Brazil is: A draw and both teams to score.
Colombia are on an outstanding run of 25 games without defeat. They have not been beaten since February 2022, when they lost away to Argentina. Since then, they have won 20 games, drawing just five.
In that 25-game unbeaten run, Colombia have beaten Brazil, Spain, Germany and Mexico twice.
Colombia have also won all of their last ten games, including both Copa America 2024 Group D games.
Brazil started with an inauspicious draw against Costa Rica but thumped Paraguay 4-1 to sit second in the group. A win would see the Selecao top the group, but a draw would ensure they progress, and against a team as in-form as Colombia, the data suggests this may be the most likely option.
However, with both teams amongst the goals of late, we should see goals at either end of what should be an enthralling encounter!
Brazil vs Colombia - Other Interesting Predictions
Vinicius Jr (Brazil) to score at anytime.
After being very quiet in their 0-0 draw with Costa Rica, Vinicius Jr. returned to form for Brazil against Paraguay, netting two of Brazil's three first-half goals in that 4-1 victory.
The Real Madrid winger is central to Brazil's hopes in this tournament and he will be their main attacking threat against a powerful and impressive Colombia side that sits at the top of the group. He is also their most experienced attacker and arguably, the first name on the teamsheet for each game.
Our secondary prediction therefore is for Vinicius Jr to score at any time in this game for Brazil.
Both Teams to Score in the Second Half
Brazil's last twelve goals scored came in the second half of the games they played. That included a number of goals in the last few minutes of games and also in added-on time.
Most of Colombia's goals in Copa America 2024 have come in the first half so far, but they were against far inferior opponents. However, against better teams, Colombia scored goals in the second half, three in the recent 5-1 friendly win over the United States as well as three away to Mexico and both goals in their 2-1 win over Brazil in their World Cup. qualify back in November.
As such, I think this will be a game that opens up in the second half after a cagier start and backing both teams to find the next in the second half looks a great value bet.
2 Goals Ahead Early Payout Offer
One of the worst feelings when placing a football bet is when the team that you have backed has gone into a multiple-goal lead only to be clawed back to a draw or to lose the game in question. This is something that bet365 has rectified for their bettors courtesy of this offer. If the team that you backed takes a two-goal lead your bet will be paid out as a winner. That is any two-goal lead so 2-0, 3-1, 4-2 etc will all be paid out early as a winner if your team is in that position. This is available in 80 different competitions including the major leagues across Europe and can be played on the full-time result market. Singles and multiples are both valid for this offer but you cannot bet on enhanced price markets. As with most promotions, if you cash out a bet in full, the bet will no longer be available for the offer in question. It also cannot be used if you bet on the draw on a game.
