West Ham United will be away to Bournemouth on Saturday in round one of the new English Premier League season. They have dominated recent encounters with Bournemouth and will hope to do so again here. Bournemouth arrive for this match after closing out their pre-season preparations with a win. They defeated French Ligue 1 outfit Lorient 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium to earn their second win in four summer friendlies. Andoni Iraola’s men had mixed results in pre-season as they also lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Atalanta. The Cherries returned to the top flight last season after two seasons in the Championship. They struggled and were in the relegation picture for much of the campaign, avoiding the drop by finishing five points clear. The South West-based team lost both league encounters with West Ham without scoring a goal.

West Ham United scored six goals against Bournemouth last season with the majority, four, coming in their visit to the Vitality. This extended their unbeaten run against their soon-to-be hosts to four matches excluding friendlies. They have won three of those fixtures and scored four without reply twice. David Moyes’ men will hope to be as rampant on Saturday as they try to get out of their current slump. West Ham are without a win in three matches and have lost their last two games but they were only friendlies. They were humbled 4-0 by Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen away in Germany last time out. This was after they were defeated 3-1 by French side Rennes. The Hammers had won three matches on the trot before this current dip in form. Their last competitive match was the Europa Conference League final which they won 2-1 against Fiorentina. This masked the Irons' league struggles last season where they finished just a point above Bournemouth.
