Bournemouth vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in FA Cup Predictions
Promotion chasing Bournemouth are set to host struggling Premier league side Southampton in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, and for both sides this will be a good break from their grueling league campaigns. Bournemouth are coming from a 3-0 win over Swansea, which reignited their promotion chances and with three wins in the last five matches, they’ll feel ready to take on Southampton. In three of the last five matches, Bournemouth have been able to score two or more goals. Their consistency in scoring has been good, the team netting in 13 of the last 15 games, but they have just five clean sheets in the 15 matches. This has been a key reason to the team’s nine of 15 matches producing over 2.5 goals. The Cherries will be glad to host this game, having won five of the last eight at home and coming from the win over Swansea, they’ll be eying back to back home wins for the first time in 10 matches. Bournemouth have scored eight times in their last five home matches and generally they’ve been good at home, with 13 wins in 22 home matches. This is the second time Bournemouth meets a Premier League side in the FA Cup. In the last round they eliminated Burnley after winning 2-0 at Turf Moor. They’ve scored in each of their last six FA Cup matches.
Southampton have had a mixed season; in the first leg, they blew away teams but in the second half of the season, they are among sides in danger of relegation. They are coming from a disappointing home loss to Brighton, a second straight loss and after going through a run of 10 losses in the last 15 matches, an FA Cup game is a welcome break. They’ve managed just four wins and four clean sheets in their last 15 matches while in eight of the 15, they’ve conceded two goals or more. Lead scorer Danny Ings is still out injured and the Saints will once again miss their main source of goals. However, James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams have stepped up well and the team has five goals in their last three matches. Che Adams has three in the last three. Their away form is what may be a concern here, having lost three of their last four away matches. Southampton have two wins and six losses in the last 10 away matches. In matches against Bournemouth, four of the last seven have ended in draws. The Saints faced two Premier League sides in their last two FA Cup matches and in their most recent game, beat Wolves 2-0. They haven’t conceded a goal in the competition so far this season.

Our Bournemouth vs Southampton Prediction
The FA Cup is key for these teams but their league campaigns are more important. This match will at best help them switch attention from the league struggles they’ve had, but both will be hoping to get that semi final berth. Bournemouth have been scoring consistently and Southampton have also upped their game in attack since Danny Ings’ injury. Both sides to score looks good here, but over 2.5 goals seems a good guarantee.
