Bournemouth vs Bristol City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

AFC Bournemouth will play host to Bristol City in the eighth round of matches in the Championship this Wednesday. Both sides will be seeking three points to close in on runaway league leaders Reading. Going to this clash, hosts Bournemouth are fourth on 13 points while Bristol are second with 14 points, five behind Reading. Bournemouth started life in the second tier on a high, with three wins in their opening four matches, but they have stagnated a bit in the recent matches. In their last match, against Watford, Bournemouth trailed for most of it after falling behind in the 12th minute. However, Chris Mepham popped up with the equalizer in the 90th minute. Though they remain unbeaten after the opening seven matches, they have drawn each of their last three. Bournemouth have failed to score in just one game in the Championship, while they have two clean sheets in the seven matches played. They have so far played three home matches in the Championship, winning two and drawing one – their most recent. Five of their seven league games have produced under 2.5 goals
It is over a decade since these two sides last met competitively, in League One. Back then, Bristol set a three-match unbeaten streak over Bournemouth. Now they head to this clash with a three-match winless run and with no clean sheet in their last four matches. The 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough saw them fall further behind Reading though they registered some improvement in their most recent game as they drew 1-1 with Swansea. They needed a Nakhi Wells penalty goal in the 83rd minute to get something from the game. Bristol’s slump has been sharp; they won each of their opening four Championship matches, but have failed to add on that in the three matches that have followed. They however, will be happy that they have scored in all but one of their seven league matches so far. In each of their opening five matches they scored twice but they have not been able to score more than once in the last two matches. They have seemed more comfortable on the road so far, with two wins and a draw in their opening three games, while they have scored twice in each of the three. They managed just one win in their last seven away games last season and will be happy to have started well in the current campaign.

Both these sides have registered some slump in their recent matches. They started the campaign on a high but it has not been so in their recent matches and they will be fighting to end their winless runs. One stat though is that they are not scoring as comfortably as they did in the opening fixtures. As a result, three of Bristol’s last five matches have ended in less than three goals while the same is true for four of Bournemouth’s last five matches. Both sides are seeking to close in on Reading and as a result, this could turn out to be a very tight affair. We will thus go for Under 2.5 goals in this clash.
