Bournemouth vs Blackburn Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

After relegation from the Premier League, AFC Bournemouth starts life in the Championship with a home game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. Bournemouth finished 18th in the Premier League last season, a point below the safety zone and will be looking to bounce back immediately. As for Blackburn Rovers, at some point in the Championship, they looked likely to vie for a place in the playoffs but fell off, to finish 11th. The hosts have had some key losses to staff after relegation and they head here with a new manager, Jason Tindall while Nathan Ake, Callum Wilson and Aaron Ramsdale all left for Premier League sides. In their last competitive match, Bournemouth were 3-1 winners over Everton in the Premier League, but that wasn’t enough to steer them to safety and will be hoping to build on it. They had two preseason friendly matches, losing 2-1 to Benfica and most recently beating West Ham United 5-3. In their last 15 competitive matches, Bournemouth have only managed three wins and will really do with a winning start here as they seek a better run. They have one clean sheet and have failed to score in two of their last five competitive matches but will be glad to have scored six in their two preseason matches. At home, Bournemouth have scored in six of their last 10 matches and have three wins in the run.
Blackburn, on the other hand, head to this game having already played competitively – their 3-2 win over Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup at the end of August. The win was not a very comfortable affair; after taking the lead, they had to rally back in the second half after conceding twice inside nine minutes. Adam Armstrong’s 81st minute penalty won it for the Riversiders and one factor they will be keen on here is their defence. In their last 15 matches, Blackburn have not managed a clean sheet but in the last 10, they have failed to score in just one. The same was the trend in their Championship matches towards the close of last season; they failed to register a clean sheet in the last 11 but scored in five of their last six. It was however tougher away from home, Blackburn winning just one of their last seven Championship matches on the road, and had just two clean sheets in 10. Blackburn have no win in their last two matches against Bournemouth. Their last meeting was in the League Cup in 2018 while they last met in the Championship in 2015.

Our Bournemouth vs Blackburn Prediction
After six seasons in the top flight, Bournemouth are back in the Championship and going to this game, they are buoyed with a good scoring run, and starting at home should give them the needed impetus. They have however not been good in defence and Blackburn will want to take advantage of this, especially as the home side plays in an empty stadium. While Blackburn eyes a better start themselves, they also have their own defensive concerns, with no clean sheet in 15 straight matches. They have however been consistent in scoring and we are backing them to hit the back of the net here too. Without many wins in recent away matches though, we don’t see Blackburn taking three points from this. Looking at both sides’ recent forms, we will go with a 1-1 draw here.
