Botafogo will look to keep their solid run of form in Brasileiro going when they face Internacional on Saturday night. The hosts currently lead the league standings after 17 matches, while the visitors are in 13th place. 

Botafogo’s remarkable rise in league football continued last weekend when they claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win against defending champions Palmeiras at home. Tiquinho Soares scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark. 

That result extended Fogo’s winning streak to four matches in a row and was their sixth league game unbeaten. It also took the side to 36 points after 17 games, three points clear of Palmeiras at the top of the table. 

At home, Artur Jorge’s side have been excellent this season, currently on a three-match winning run and unbeaten in five. They have only lost once in eight home games this season while winning six and drawing one of the remaining seven matches. 

The hosts lost the last match between these sides 3-1 on the road but did win the previous encounter at this venue by the same scoreline last season. 

Meanwhile, Internacional have delivered a mixed bag of results so far this season, and come into this match following a 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their Round of 32 Copa Sudamericana tie against Rosario Central in midweek. 

That result extended their current winless streak to seven matches in all competitions. In their last six league games, the Reds have earned just three points, all by way of 1-1 draws. 

On the road, though, Pablo de Toledo’s side are unbeaten in their last three league games (W1 D2 L0), and 11 of their 18-point tally this season has come from matches away from Estadio Beira-Rio.
