Botafogo will look to continue their positive start to the Brazilian Serie A season when they take on Corinthians at Estadio Nilton Santos on Friday. The hosts have shot out the blocks this season and currently lead the Serie A with 12 points after the first four matches and are two points ahead of Palmeiras in second place. Botafogo are the only side in the league that still have a perfect record this season and have scored nine goals while conceding four across their first four matches. Over those four matches, Botafogo played two at home, which ended in a 2-1 win over Sao Paulo in the opening week and 2-0 over Atletic Mineiro last weekend. Corinthians are some way from the form that saw them end last season in fourth place. The visitors are yet to pick up a point on the road this season, having lost their first two away fixtures, scoring twice but conceding five times. Despite their poor start to the season, Corinthians will gain some confidence from their recent record over this opponent, where they’re unbeaten in their last four matches, winning three times, and outsourcing Botafogo 8-3 over that period. A win here might be exactly the type of result that could give the visitor's season the kickstart it needs.
