Bosnia-Herzegovina failed in their quest for a place at the 2021 European Championships after falling to Northern Ireland in the playoff semi finals and now they shift attention to the Nations League. They are set to host the Netherlands in this Sunday game with the Dutch also coming from a loss, but in a friendly game. Two points separate the two nations in League A Group 1; Bosnia Herzegovina on one point and Netherlands on three points. Bosnia started their Nations League campaign with an impressive draw away to Italy but while expected to build on it, they slipped at home to Poland. That defeat was followed with the painful loss on post match penalties to Northern Ireland that dumped them out of contention for a place in next year’s Euro Championship finals. Against Northern Ireland, for the third straight game, Bosnia led and let go of the lead only to finish at a disadvantage. They did so against Italy and it ended 1-1, then it ended 2-1 against Poland. Such is the complacency that has left Bosnia with just one win in their last six matches, and they have just one clean sheet in the process. In their last 14 matches, Bosnia have two clean sheets and only four wins and they haven’t enjoyed fine moments at home in recent times too, with two outright losses and one on penalties.

This is going to be the first meeting between these two nations, and Netherlands will be hoping to rise from two straight losses. They started well after Ronald Koeman’s departure but they have lost to Italy in the Nations League and Mexico in a friendly in their last two matches. The back to back losses were the first since 2017 when they lost to Bulgaria and Italy and while they have been off color, the Dutch will be keen to ensure it doesn’t extend to three losses. With six wins in their last 10 matches, Netherlands will be the favorites here and they have failed to score in just four of their last 15 matches. After missing a number of major competitions, the revival is on for the Dutch and in 2019 they reached the final of the inaugural Nations League before powering their way to Euro 2021. With a four-game unbeaten run away from home, we expect that revival to continue here.
