The Bundesliga season concludes this weekend with confirmed runners-up Borussia Dortmund playing host to Hoffenheim. Dortmund have missed out on the title to Bayern Munich for the eighth season in a row but are destined to finish second as RB Leipzig are six points behind. Hoffenheim, seventh in the table, can still qualify for Europe provided other results go their way and they pick up something here. They are level on points with sixth-placed Wolfsburg, with sixth being the final Europa League qualifying spot. After a shaky few games following the restart, Hoffenheim have found a nice run of form, winning four of their last six games.  They come into this match with an unbeaten run of six games away from home, winning two of their last three matches on the road. Against Dortmund, Hoffenheim have an impressive head-to-head record. Unbeaten in their last four matches against BVB, they have won two of those games, including the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, a 2-1 victory.

While there are silver linings for Dortmund fans to take from this season - the emergence of players like Reyna, the instant impact of Haaland - they will be largely disappointed that they couldn't improve on last season's campaign. Performances can often be frustrating under Lucien Favre because of the talent Dortmund have at their disposal. Dortmund have been strangely goal-shy in their last four games, scoring four goals across that span. This period has been characterised by inconsistency. Their last victory was a 2-0 away win over Champions League rivals RB Leipzig and it was preceded by a limp 2-0 defeat at home to Mainz. The fitness of creators and scorers like Haaland, Reus and Sancho has been a factor in this. Two of the three should be present for the game with Hoffenheim and we expect a stronger showing in attack from the home side. All seven of the Bundesliga meetings between Dortmund and Hoffenheim have featured both teams scoring. With Hoffenheim still fighting to secure European qualification, we can imagine another open affair. Back both teams to score and Hoffenheim to win.
