Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich seek to preserve their unbeaten Bundesliga runs when the former hosts Saturday’s Der Klassiker. The two teams are separated by just two points going into this match with Bayern in second having the advantage over fourth-placed Dortmund. Borussia Dortmund are coming off a 1-0 victory against Hoffenheim in the DFB Pokal in midweek. The home victory saw them advance to the third round of the tournament and also extended their current unbeaten streak to eight matches. Edin Terzic’s men will now go in search of a first win against Bayern since 2019. A win on Saturday could see them move to within a point of top spot. BVB have won six of their nine league matches and have racked up 21 points.

Bayern Munich suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away to third-division side Saarbrucken to exit the DFB Pokal. The loss was their first since the 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the season curtain-raiser Super Cup back in August. Thomas Tuchel’s men had won five matches on the trot before the Cup loss and will be keen to get back to winning ways. Needing to do so against their biggest league rivals brings with it extra motivation. Bayern have dominated this fixture and currently haven’t lost against Dortmund in 10 meetings. They have won nine of those fixtures and four have come with them as the away side. The Bavarians have amassed 23 points and sit just two points off leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
