The French Ligue 1 continues this weekend after the French Cup games that marked the opening of 2022 and in the first game Bordeaux will be hosting Marseille. Bordeaux have 17 points so far and are placed 17th in the standings while Marseille have 33 points in third place. It has been a tough season so far for the hosts, who head to this game just a point outside the relegation region. Bordeaux are coming from a 3-0 defeat at Brest in the French Cup, their second loss in a row, having closed 2021 with a 3-1 loss to Lille. In Ligue 1, they aren’t doing so well, they go to this game with just a win in the last seven matches. Marseille, on the other hand, go to this game straight from a 3-0 win away to Chauvigny in the French Cup. As they resume league action, they will be targeting a win to take them to second spot, having a game in hand. Marseille are unbeaten in their last five matches, and have won four in that run, while keeping clan sheets in three. They’ve scored two or more goals in three of their last four matches and will be out to improve on the 1-1 draw with Reims in their last league game. In the previous five league matches, Marseille have recorded three wins and as many clean sheets, but they’ve scored more than a goal in just one of the five league matches. Away from home, Marseille have three straight wins and a four-match unbeaten run in the league.
