Bolton - Oxford United: Form Analysis
Bolton survived a scare in their Playoff Semi-Final tie with Barnsley. The Trotters earned an impressive 3-1 win away at Oakwell in the first leg to seemingly set up a comfortable second leg at home. They then led 2-1 at halftime to lead 5-2 on aggregate, but two second-half goals for Barnsley put the home side under huge pressure. They did hang on to win 5-4 on aggregate to claim their place in the final but suffered their first defeat in nine games in the process, winning four and drawing four of the eight games before that loss. Bolton rattled in 86 goals in the regular season but conceded 51. They have been beaten just twice in their last 14 games in League One and the Playoffs, winning six and drawing six in that time.
Oxford United came into the playoff final after four games unbeaten and had just one defeat in ten games. The U's came through their playoff semi-final with Peterborough United, winning a tight first leg 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium. They then secured a 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Weston Homes Stadium, with Callum Brannagan scoring a crucial penalty just before halftime to pull Oxford level on the night and 2-1 ahead on aggregate. A battling second-half display then secured the 2-1 aggregate victory. Des Buckingham's team won six of their last ten games, drawing three others and losing only to Lincoln City in that run. Oxford were also amongst the highest scorers in League One this season, scoring 79 goals, conceding 56.

Bolton & Oxford United Squad Analysis
Bolton manager Ian Evatt will have the luxury of picking from an almost full-strength squad for the playoff final with Oxford. The only absentee will be defender George Johnston, who has missed the entire season through injury and will not return to action until next season at the earliest. The Trotters will be well-backed at Wembley, selling over 30,000 tickets to the final in the ten days from their playoff semi-final victory. Dion Charles is Bolton's main attacking threat, scoring 20 goals in 42 games in all competitions this season. Winger Aaron Collins is another to watch, having netted eight goals in just 19 appearances for the Trotters this campaign.
Oxford United head coach Des Buckingham faces a significant uncertainty ahead of the game with Bolton. Mark Harris, who has been a prolific scorer with 15 goals in League One this season (19 in all competitions), sustained an injury in their semi-final victory over Peterborough United. His participation in the final remains in question, adding an element of intrigue to the game. More positive is the news that Will Goodwin is fit again for the U's. Midfielder Cameron Brannagan has been a hugely consistent performer for Oxford United for seven years now and will be a key man if Oxford wins the game and gains promotion to the Championship.
