Just a few days after beating the league leaders, Aston Villa lost 3-1 at home to QPR to fall seven points adrift of the automatic promotion places.  They can't afford to drop any more points in this game or Villa will be looking at the play-offs as their only way of getting back into the Premier League. Villa had gone four games unbeaten before the loss to QPR and their only away defeat in their last six league matches was at in-form Fulham. They have won nine away league games this season, a feat only bettered by top of the table Wolverhampton Wanderers, not bad considering they only got one point from their first three away league matches as Villa made a stuttering start to the season.

Bolton Wanderers lie 20th in the Championship and are only six points above the relegation zone. They have gone four league games without a win but three of those have ended in draws. Bolton need to be getting points at home as they have only earned 11 on their travels with just one win. Their home form has seen Bolton win seven games but they have also lost seven so it's hardly a fortress. Villa need the three points to keep in touch with the top two and can get the win here.
