Bochum host Union Berlin on Saturday and both sides are in need for points to stay out of the relegation zone. The home side are 14th in the Bundesliga, a place and three points above their opponents who have a game in hand on them. The Blues are only three points above the relegation play-off position and four above the automatic relegation places. They have only won two of their 14 league games this season with seven draws (more than any other side in the Bundesliga) and five losses. Current form isn't great with just one win in their last four league fixtures. Last time out saw them beaten 3-1 at Hoffenheim with their only goal being a last-gasp cancellation one. The Descendables did win their last home Bundesliga game, beating Wolfsburg 3-1. That was their first home league victory of the season with four of the five previous games ending level. Both teams have scored in six of their last seven games and in all six home Bundesliga fixtures.

Union Berlin are only out of the relegation play-off position on goal difference from Koln. Midweek saw them lose 3-2 at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League after taking an early lead. The Iron Ones finished bottom of their group and their European campaign is over for the season. Another one next year is looking unlikely with them already 13 points behind a Europa Conference League place. Just three league games have been won this season with nine being lost. That's the joint highest number of Bundesliga defeats this season with bottom-of-the-table Darmstadt but from a game less. They did win at home in the Bundesliga last week beating Borussia Monchengadbach 3-1. Away form has produced just one win with five defeats. Five of their last six games have seen both teams score.
