Boavista host high-flying Sporting Lisbon for the seventh round of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The hosts have made an impressive start to the league, and their occupying fourth position is surely the surprise of the season so far. Their latest 1-2 win against Arouca was their second in a row and they have overall won four of their six matches this season. Things are less jolly at home recently though, with Boavista winning just two of their last seven, conceding in six of those. They are winless in their last thirteen home meetings against Sporting, failing to score in their last two. 

It is fair to say Sporting are flying at the moment. Paulinho’s 90th minute header sent the Jose Alvalade into ruptures, with Sporting making it two in two in their Champions League group and being already in pole position to progress to the coveted knockouts. They do need to pick up some form in the league however, where they are surprisingly seventh, eight points behind leaders Benfica and two behind Boavista. That can be owed to two successive defeats against Chaves and Porto, with the Lions being flawless besides that. They have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven games, while all of those seven have featured at least one clean sheet. Amorim’s side have an excellent tradition against Boavista as well, being unbeaten in their last nineteen encounters against them.
