Blackburn vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Blackburn welcome Southampton to Ewood Park on Saturday for Championship action. There was a sigh of relief on Easter Monday as Blackburn returned from Sunderland with three points following a 5-1 win. That was the first time that they had collected the maximum since the 10th of February when they beat Stoke at home. There were nine games in between those with six draws and three losses on the board. Just a single point more has been gained at home than on the road with only three teams having fewer home wins. Sammie Szmodics has had an exceptional season, scoring 29 times in all competitions, including six goals in his last seven matches.  

A date with Liverpool in the FA Cup almost derailed Southampton, losing three in four ahead of a 3-0 loss to the Reds. They got back on the right path in March, winning two from three but they struggled at the back. Their last two games on the road have seen a 4-3 win at Birmingham and a 3-2 loss at Ipswich. Add in a 4-2 home win against Sunderland and their games have been entertaining for a neutral who craves goals. They are in no man's land at present, too far back to take an automatic promotion place and only a spectacular collapse would see them fall out of the playoffs. Mentally that is a tough place to be to retain full concentration. Adam Armstrong has 20 goals this season, scoring in Southampton's last four straight. The ex-Blackburn man scored 64 goals for Rovers and will be looking forward to this one.
