Blackburn vs Oxford United Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Saturday afternoon in the Championship sees Blackburn Rovers host Oxford United with Rovers seeking to continue their unbeaten start to the season. The U’s though have adapted to life in the Championship well under Des Buckingham. Our prediction is that this should be an open and entertaining match, but who will we forecast to take the win?

Manager John Eustace will be thrilled with how Blackburn have started this season, especially after their well-documented struggles last season and the sale of 28-goal striker Sammie Szomodics ahead last week’s league game. 

Rovers began the season in style with a 4-2 win over Derby County and then thrashed Stockport County 6-1 in the Carabao Cup First Round. Last weekend, they travelled to Norwich City and came away with a creditable 2-2 draw.

Yuki Ohashi has caught the eye this season, scoring in all three of Rovers games so far. It remains to be seen whether they decide to move into the market to replace the now-departed Szomodics.

Oxford boss Des Buckingham will be thrilled with his players' performances this season. Their 2-0 win over Norwich City on the opening day was a fabulous start, and they earned another 2-0 victory against Peterborough in the Carabao Cup. 

However, they were edged out 3-2 by Coventry City away from home last weekend. Haji Wright scored a 96th-minute winner for the home side. That result left Oxford 8th in the early Championship table, four places below today’s opponents. Rovers are one of three teams on four points.
