Blackburn Rovers have lost their last two matches ahead of this game; they are coming from a 2-1 loss to Sunderland in the league right after a 4-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest. With four losses in six league matches, Blackburn Rovers will not come into this game very confident but the worst they can get is another loss here. They are the poorest in both defence and attack among the top six sides and the target here will be to improve their goal difference at least to something above the current +0. They can bank on home form for this needed improvement, having won six of their last seven league matches at home.
Middlesbrough bounced back from their defeat to Burnley with a 4-1 win over Wigan Athletic and this is an opportunity for them to rise into the top six.
