Both of these clubs need points but for very different reasons. Birmingham City are 18th in the Championship and host 10th placed Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. The home side are only six points above the relegation zone but do have a game in hand. The Blues had lost three successive league and cup games without scoring before a much-needed win last weekend. They beat fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers 1-0 with a 77th minute winner. That was only their ninth win in 31 league games with 14 matches being lost. Only two of their last ten league games have been won. They have gone three home games in the Championship with five points earned. That win over Blackburn ended a run of five home league games without a win and was their sixth win at St Andrews.

Sunderland are tenth but only a point adrift of the final promotion play-off position. They had been in the top six last month but have only won one of their last three league fixtures. Last weekend saw them lose 1-0 at relegation-threatened Sunderland. They have only won four away league games this season with two draws and a couple of defeats in the last four played. Nine of their last ten away games in the Championship have seen under 2.5 goals scored. They've gone 11 away matches in this division without scoring twice. We go for under 2.5 goals to be scored in what should be a tight match.
