Birmingham City hosts Leeds United on Saturday, with both seeking their first wins in the Championship this season. Both teams drew their respective Match Day 1 fixtures leaving Leeds in 11th place and Birmingham 12th in the standings. Birmingham City began the season with a 1-1 draw away to Swansea. The result extended their search for a league win to four matches after they had lost their last three fixtures last season. John Eustace’s charges would however get back to winning ways last time out in the League Cup. They won 2-0 away to Cheltenham Town with Junior Bacuna scoring both goals. Starting from the beginning of pre-season, the Blues have only played away from home. This will be their first match at St. Andrews after the final day of last season. Though it has been four years since they hosted Leeds, Birmingham will be confident of a third home victory in four as hosts.

Leeds United are back in the English second tier after three seasons in the Premier League. They were relegated at the end of last season after finishing second from bottom. This resulted in a managerial change with former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke taking over. Farke and his charges began the season with a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City at home. This was the only match that they failed to win in their current four-match unbeaten run. Just like Birmingham, the Whites got back to winning ways last time out with the start of the League Cup. They came from a goal down to defeat Shrewsbury Town 2-1 and proceed to the second round. Leeds’ form away from home played a big part in their demotion last season. They won only two away fixtures in the league. Leeds won both encounters against Birmingham the season they were promoted and will hope for the same fate to start here.
