Sunday’s LaLiga slate comes to an end with seventh-place Real Betis hosting rock-bottom Almeria for matchday 35. Betis currently occupy a Conference League position and hold a five-point lead over eighth-placed Valencia. This is a golden opportunity to take a commanding lead in the race for Europe as we wind down the last few fixtures in the season. They can also potentially leapfrog Real Sociedad for sixth-place with a win and a loss from La Real. They currently trail the San-Sebastian based club by only two points. Real Betis still have an outside shot to qualify for the Europa League, UEFA’s second tier competition, as they trail fifth-place Athletic Club by nine points. The Verdiblancos come into this match in a fine run of form, scooping 10 of the last 12 available points with three wins and a draw. Their most recent outing saw them run out 2-0 winners away from home over Osasuna.

Almeria are only playing for pride at this point as it has already been confirmed that the club will be playing next season in the Segunda Division. With only 17 points earned on the year, they currently find themselves a massive 15 points from safety. The visitors have managed to win only two games this season, although one of them came in the team’s most recent match. Indeed, the Rojiblancos pulled off a 1-0 away victory over Rayo Vallecano last weekend. This marks the second victory for Almeria in their last six games after previously going winless for the first 28 matches of the season. Both of those wins, coincidentally, have come on the road.
