Searching for their first points of the Indian Super League season, Bengaluru FC will play host to East Bengal. This match will be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday with the hosts 10th without any points and the visitors 5th with four points after two matches. Bengaluru started their season with 2-1 loss to Kerala Blasters away from home. They had a quiet first-half but after conceding the lead through an own goal, Bengaluru went further behind by the 69th minute. Although a late goal from Curtis Main tried to give some hope, it was too late to salvage any point for Bengaluru. They followed it up with a 1-0 loss to Mohun Bagan in a tempestuous game where Bengaluru ended with nine men. The lone goal was scored beyond the hour mark as Hugo Boumous proved to be the difference. The two defeats have set them back and Bengaluru will be desperate to get amongst the points.

East Bengal started the season with an unbeaten run, picking up four points so far. They started the season with a goalless draw against Jamshedpur at home which was a drab encounter in all senses. They then followed it up with a 2-1 win over Hyderabad, once again playing at home. That match saw the East Bengal side go 1-0 behind to a very early eighth minute goal. They quickly equalised through Cleiton Silva in the tenth minute but had to wait until the last minute to get their second goal – once again through Cleiton Silva. With the confidence of having remained unbeaten in the two games, the visitors will hope to trip the hosts and keep them winless.
